If you don't know how ot find those kind of books at your library you could always go to a bookstore website like [Link](Mouse over link to see full location)
and search babysitting advice, or something like that.
Also, experience is really good too. I was always very mature, so I started babysitting a lot of kids by myself, at a very early age. I started babysitting when I was 12.
Maybe if you go to church or something, you could consider working in the nursery. Thats a great way to gain experience, but also, parents can see how you work with the babies and you can get clients that way.

Don't be alone with one child at any time. Always make sure you either have a second adult or a second child with you. In today's society if a child accuses you of something you are guilty until proven innocent.
Along the same lines as the above is don't do anything with the kids that mom, dad, grandpa or grandma might be uncomfortable with if they saw it. This includes sitting on laps, overlong hugs, etc.
Also at the preschool stage they will try and make you their friend and play the cuteness card (for example getting up and trying to hang all over you while they should be sitting for an activity). If you are there as a volunteer to help their teacher make sure the kids know that while you care for them you are a teacher and keep them from crossing that teacher/student line.
If you have any questions on how to deal with specific issues feel free to ask anytime! Good luck. [ silentkate's advice column | Ask silentkate A Question ]

If you don't know where they are or can't find them, just ask the librarian. Good luck! :) [ sizzlinmandolin's advice column | Ask sizzlinmandolin A Question ]
