Terrible Seasonal Allergies!!

Question Posted Friday September 7 2007, 11:39 pm

I have absolutely horrid allergies. Everytime the seasons change I'm out of commission for a few days, or else struggling to make it through the day.

I'm currently using Flonase, twice a day like you're supposed to. It works for mild things, like year-long triggers (cats, dogs, oak, etc) but doesn't do much when the pollen count is really high, like now.

Problem is, I can't go on anything else. I tried to take Zyrtec a few years back and had a not so fun allergic reaction in the form of puking my guts out constantly (Yeah, not fun) so I refuse to go on anything else of the sort.

So I was hoping someone can help me out! Any natural remedies, foods, or even herbal supplements? Any help is appreciated! Thanks in advance, and I will rate! =]

If possible try to find a personally recommended acupuncturist as they can stop your body from over reacting to the allergens. Other things you can try if you don't like needles is reflexology, chinese herbs, a naturopath and a dietician. All of them need to be recommended, never go to someone you've found in a book unless they are very well known with an excellent track record.

Any of these people should be able to help you. You will probably have a consultation first to find out the exact details of your problem followed by treatment. I like reflexology, it's very relaxing as well being effective. The only problem is that none of these options are cheap. However, the advantage is, you're not filling your body with chemicals which appear to be giving you adverse reactions.

If finance is an issue, go to your local health food shop and talk to them. They should be able to recommend products that could help.

hey!
I have pretty bad seasonal allergies as well, but what I would recommend is seeking medical treatment. I went on nasocort, which I think is like flonase, and I got nosebleeds, so my doctor took me off of it, and put me on non prescription drugs such as aerius and reactine. and they work really well. But if its a sinus allergy I highly doubt there are non medical remedies. I would suggest getting allergy tested and talking to an allergy doctor, because I have a weird sinus thing and I have to get a CT scan, so it could be more than just an allergy and doctors have seen it all, they probably know what to do. Things I do when theres alot of pollen in the air are:
- Wear a doctor's mask when cutting the grass, or sitting outside
- close up the windows and doors
-put a wet cloth over my eyes.
those may work, but if you google it, you may get more answers. I hope that helps a bit, love ya,

sudafed allergy is great, i suggest you go to an allergy specialist they can test you to find out exactly what your allergic to, and i know its hard to trust other medications, but they will find the right preventive medication for you, they also have shots you can take just a few times a year, its worth it believe me. the things they test for will blow your mind, i found that im allergic to most plants, trees molds, dust mites, and hang on to your skin, ROACHES yes they test for that, who would have thaught. its actually alot easier on the bank account too. please consider a specialist it has really helped me. good luck hope i helped BRIE
