Question Posted Thursday September 6 2007, 5:37 pm
okay, well my english teacher gave my class a project to do, they said that we needed to create a "mobile".
she said we need:
seven items--these can be drawn constructed or bought
- these figures need to give the viewer a fair representation of the entire novel that you have read.
-figures must depict certain elements of literature...title, theme, plot, character, setting symbolism, etc.
but the main thing is she said
use a hanger or other material that will be sturdy and hold the weight of the items hanging from the mobile, we will hang them from the ceiling.
is there anything else you can use besides a hanger? because, i can't come up with anything to use to hang stuff from, and would be sturdy enough, tell me please?
but if there was a hanger... how exactly am i supposed to use it like? metal wire or plastic? O.o

Other things that work are a strip of one of those 5 lb. cans[coffee can] thats still a circle, the really sturdy corregated cardboard[the kind that they make big stuff out of], a picture frame with the glass taken out or even a shoebox. I know a friend who made one out of hemp, following the directions to weave a bracelet, making 3-1yd. pieces, braiding them, and twisting it in a circle... this works with twine as well. Depending on the weight, you could use multiple plastic cups, cut into thinner circles and bound.
The easiest way however, is the hanger. there are two ways to go about this. you can simply a) hang the items on the flat end by string, or b) pull the straight edge of a [metal] hanger, and make a diamond. take two pieces of string, and make an X. hang it by the X. I don't know if these would be accessible, but those little wooden rods that you usually get at a craft store would work. Tie them together in the form of a cross, and you should be all set.
