Unless you've just dropped into the film 'Serial Mom', it doesn't seem to matter these days. This website gives some information on the wearing of white after Labor day. It appears to refer to white shoes or pumps only though, not the clothes.

labor day. white is a "spring/summer" color (whatever) so most people just think that they can't wear it after labor day. nothing happens if you wear white... but the thing is, i really only apply that to white shoes. like white dress shoes, not white tennis shoes. actually the other day i bought some white clothing and i plan on wearing it. and plus, white actually reminds me of christmas. so nothing is going to happen to me, but i'm just not going to wear white shoes until after easter :)

people say that you cant wear white after LABOR DAY. its just because white is more of a summer color so most people dont wear very much white after labor day. nothing happens if you wear white.. you can still wear it.

It's Labor Day. Don't worry, you can still wear white! People say that because they feel white is more of a spring/summer color, and Labor Day is the unoffical end of summer.
