Mutiny on The Bounty (1935) is a Best Picture Academy Award winner with Clark Gable, David Niven and James Cagney. It is considered the definitive film version.

The film was re-made at least two other times most notable in 1962 with Marlon Brando. In 1984 yet another film version was made with Mel Gibson and Anthony Hopkins simple entitled The Bounty.

As you know the book is based on historical events. A lot of people from film historians to regular historians and members of the public feel all three films have inaccurate points/scenes/portrayals or bias about certain characters.

What I would do is arrive at school tommorow and tell the teacher who assigned it that you completely forgot about it until now.

Tell him/her that rather then use Wikipedia, or just see the movie and not do the actual assignment that you would be willing to take one letter grade off if he/she allows you to watch the films (all are on video) and read the book and come back with a thesis on this.

Trust me, if you do it any other way you'll get busted and will not score high on your assignment. The person who gave it to you knows what is on Wikipedia, in the movies, in the book and the differences you can't possibly draft an essay that will get you a decent mark let alone read the book all in one night.

You should start by reading this: [Link](Mouse over link to see full location)

Bottom line: the movie and the booka re always different and may be inaccurate if it contains real-life events. Your teacher knows this hence why he/she gave the assignment to award those who read the book right through over summer.

If you go in and be honest and follow my ide re: an essay you should come out of this favorably.
