"locked" image won't delete

I have some pictures on the desktop of my Mac computer...and when i try to delete them or move them it says that they can't be deleted (or moved) b/c the image is locked. How can i "Unlock" the image??

I'm not a big mac user, but if I recall - hit cmnd-I to launch the inspector and un-check the "locked" checkbox for the file you want to delete.

Make sure you've not got the file open too, that might be your problem.

right click it and it will give you a list of things you can do.
