getting my makeup done

Question Posted Tuesday August 21 2007, 12:46 pm

I'm thinking of going to the Damone Roberts salon to get my makeup done for the dances but I'm wondering if the makeup artists are going be snobby since it is a high class place. Whenever I try to get my makeup done or if I want to buy makeup, the make artists are usually mean to me and they make me feel like I'm never going to be pretty since they would usually point out my flaws.

No, they're getting paid to do your makeup so they can't afford to be rude. Like the person below me said, go in with confidence. If they are mean to you, get up and walk out. Yes, I'm serious. You shouldn't pay to be insulted.

And yes, Damone is absolutely amazing, but keep in mind that you will probably not get your makeup done by him personally.

Well I think that as long as you go in there with confidence, then they're not going to be mean to you. I do everything with confidence, and I'm pretty sure people look at me thinking one of three things, "I fear her" or "I want to be her" or "I want to date her". haha. I'm just kidding... I mean, there's always those days you have where you don't feel pretty at all, but with confidence, you can climb every mountain and swim every sea!! :) I hope that helped you!! :)

Well you maybe shy but the saying is "you never know unless you give it a shot". Well the way I look at it, and this is how I think they view it too. Its their job they do, they're there to put make-up on your face and they want to five you a professional look, they're really not trying to criticize you. Make-up artists are obligated to make people look their best and they want you to feel good about yourself too, although they may pt. out your flaws , EVERYBODY has flaws & most people would like to cover those flaws up. Everybody is pretty and unique in their own way, and usually when you go tell the make-up artist what the occasion is and WHAT you want. Tell them whether you want a more natural look, or a glammed up look. These people who do it in the mall and stuff, they do it for a living and they get payed for it, but they're not their to criticize you, they just want you to look your best and And I watch 10 yrs. younger daily and look at it this way, most people are thinking the same thing you are (like those people when they go into the box) but in the end, they look glamorous and it makes them feel better. Hope I helped, if any. :)

I have no idea about the salon or any others specifically but if you're willing to pay a lot for one dance then it's your decission, just keep in mind that it better be worth it because if it turns out bad and you pay a lot of money..

Or you could seriously make them do it all over then, you payed for it and deserve what you want. From your additional info, it sounds really good and it must be a good experience to try it even once.

And don't worry about the make up artists. Seriously, they're sweet compared to photoshop workers for magazines, those guys will fix a tiny problom as if it's super serious or something.

Those people are just superficial and point out everything. They're trying to make you feel bad so you'll get mroe make up. It's what you expect when you talk to sellers and it's one of their top ways of selling things. Sellers that don't sell cosmetics and make people feel bad in many other ways too.

If you didn't have so many flaws, you're probably a manikin.

If they start to tell you about your flaws, tell them to just shut up and do their job because they're getting payed for it, and that you also think that they could use a lot of make up for their mouth cuz it needs A LOT of adjusting.

Keep in mind that if you think after that they're purposely trying to make you look bad or it jsut really does look bad, don't be afraid to make a scene or demand to tlak to the boss or manager there. If they get fired, it's their problem.

That's what make up does, cover up your flaws and that's why people have so much make up. Obviously, they have big issues on their looks and their just trying to rub off the problem on others.

People who wear no or less make up are confident with their looks.

Hope I helped and good luck!
