why do people buy this stuff? well ive tried to go back-to-school shopping, but i cant find anything that looks good on me! all the styles are so unflattering! like the shirts are all so tight and long and come down past your butt. and unless you're built like a runway model, it makes your hips and gut look huge. either that, or its those babydoll tops that poof out and make you look 8 months pregnant. im not fat at all, but none of these things look good on me. or on anyone else i've seen wearing them (besides my one friend who's practically anorexic). i just dont understand why people think these clothes look good? and who comes up with this stuff? and why do people buy it when it looks so bad on them? no offense, but cant they see what they look like? is being "in style" more important than looking good?

For those long tight shirts. if you like the color and style. Get a size(or two)bigger. and when your wearing them scrunch the bottom up and make the shirt stop at you hips/waist.
Instead of this:

Do this:

I have to disagree with you- I look hideous in short shirts & longer styles are a lifesaver. Depending on how you're built, shirts that go past your hip can be very figure-flattering. Also, tank tops are longer than usual to make layering easier. There's still plenty of styles for you- you just have to look. Hollister & Aeropostale [those two stores come to mind because I was just there the other day] have many styles of shirts that are on the shorter side. Have you tried button-down shirts? Regular t-shirts also tend to be shorter than other shirts. You'll find something you like- you just have to look.
And yes, being "in style" is more important to some people than looking good. On the other hand, what's "in style" is almost guaranteed to look good on someone! That's why there's so many different clothing options to begin with.
