Question Posted Saturday August 18 2007, 4:00 pm

So from straightening my hair alot with a Chi straightener, my hair is damaged obviously. I've tried cutting back on using it that much this summer. but does anyone know of any good leave in conditioner/strengthining treatments????

First and foremost, get your hair cut. Get all the damaged ends off. If you don't do this, it'll just keep getting worse. All those damaged hair conditioners/shampoos don't reverse damaged, they only help prevent. So the first start to getting healthier hair is to cut off the damage. Also, go in for a trim every 6 weeks or so.

Second, use a thermal hair protector every time you straighten. Any brand should do. It's stuff you spray onto your hair that help distribute the heat and helps with damage.

If you blow dry before you straighten it, stop. Don't do that, it'll kill your hair.

Theres something else you might want to try that my mother swears on...I've tried it before and it really does work. It makes your hair look and feel softer and less damaged. It's an egg yolk and olive oil conditioner. One egg yolk, and two tablespoons of olive oil. Mix them together, wet your hair, and put it in your hair. Mostly on your ends. Put a shower cap on and wait like, 20 mins. Then shower as normal. Do it once a week for a month or so.

Vitamin E is also good for you hair.

If you want a leave-in, a good one is Infusium 23.

Any shampoo/conditioner that says it protects dry, damaged hair works.

Also, use creme. You put it in once you get out of the shower. You can use V05, or Studioline. There's also sprays, V05 as well. Try not to blowdry it. Go to bed with it wet, and when you wake up, staighten it. You can scunch you hair instead of straightening it, and that doesn't damage it nearly as much. I don't know any good brands because my hair doesn't scunch. But you can ask other people and they can give you suggestions.
