You can definitely hold a tan by keeping your skin moisturized & by drinking plenty of water. In the winter (or in between tanning) you can rely on moisturizers with a tint of self tanner to give you a glow. I was very skeptical about using them, but I tried Neutrogena Summer Glow Daily Moisturizer & it works wonderfully! I haven't once turned orange or gotten any streaks. The trick is to use a tinted moisturizer that is close to your skin color. Most brands offer you light, medium & dark. People often make the mistake of going with a medium if they are fair skinned - which of course will give you streaks because it's too dramatic of a change in color. So the best thing to do is to start off lighter & you can always go up from there. And if you EVER see streaks appearing, the trick is to use a regular moisturizing lotion to even it out (learned this when I went to do spray tan & came out with color a little uneven in areas.) Hope this helps. :)

What CheerCrazy said about keeping your skin moist is absolutely true. But, when it really comes down to it, you can't keep a tan for more than a little over a month unless you're out in the sun. And you have to be careful with self tanners as they will leave you with an orange color

You lose skin cells everyday and they top layer of your skin, which is the tan part, is replaced about every month. So, you can moisturize as much as you want, and put want ever you want on your skin, but it will eventually fade. Your tan fades because your skin cells are constantly replaced.

What you should do is, try to get some sun every so often. This doesn't mean you need to lay out or go to a bed everyday or even every other day. As long as you get a decent amount of sun 5-6 times a month you should be fine. Being outside in the sun gives you an much more natural looking tan than being in a bed does anyways.

Again, I'm not telling you to bake in the sun and burn yourself. Defiantly do NOT do that. Know yourself, and know your skin. Use suntan lotion, and don't let yourself get burnt. I can't tell you how long to stay in the sun because I don't know your skin type. But I'd say first try staying on each side for 30 mins and see how that works.

And really, when it comes down to it, a dark summer tan doesn't look all that great in winter anyways. So don't get too dark because dark, fake looking skin is very overrated. You just want a pretty, sun kissed, look.

I don't know if you can keep it that long but there are definitley ways to keep it longer.. go to walgreens or some place like that and you can buy banana boat moisturizing aloe aftersun lotion. Using lotion like this and keeping your skin moist will help to extend your tan... it's when your skin drys up that it starts to peel... also if you want a tan during the winter without going tanning then they have good self-tanners at walgreens... i've used l'oreal sublime bronze tinted self-tannign lotion... for Body.. and it's Medium-Deep... depending on the color of your skin you can either get light...medium..or dark.. to make it look more natural u probably wouldn't get the dark one... and you use it just like normal lotion rub it in your hands and apply it evenly. You put it on before you go to bed at night and it will show up really well the next morning.. banana boat also has good self tanner.. that works on your face really well!! hope this helped.<3

- to the other question you asked about it smelling.. i mean im sure all of them to some extent have a smell... but mine never peeled off or anything.. if you put it on at night after you shower and let it dry then go to bed.. then it should be fine by the morning.. and even after you take a shower again it will sort of wash off the top layer so that it doesn't smell as bad you know what i mean?
