pell grant

Question Posted Wednesday August 15 2007, 5:34 pm

A few weeks ago I went to my college to clear my fees. I have a pell grant, and the woman that cleared my fees told me all I had to pay for is books, then apparently whatever money left over would be given to me. I was just wondering if this is true? I don't think they would just hand me the rest of the money.. If someone could explain to me what they do with the rest, that would be very helpful. Thanks!

The money goes straight to your bank account.

I'm not sure how Pell Grants work, but I know that for any other scholarship that you get, you DO get any extra money back to spend however you wish. For example, I had two full scholarships, which meant I was basically being paid the tuition rate to go to school, since I was only actually having to use one of the scholarships.
