Helpful answered Saturday August 11 2007, 3:00 pm: Try this: after you brush your teeth, put some vasaline on your lips and rub gently with the toothbrush. Do this every time you brush your teeth for a couple of days and see if it starts to work for you. There's also an amazing chapstick called Bert's Bees that will really help if you apply it a couple times a day. It can heal and protect your lips against weather. You can get it at bookstores usually, like Hasting's or Barnes & Noble. I would also suggest keeping a glass of water with you at all times and sipping it every so often... you may be dehydrated. Good luck! [ Helpful's advice column | Ask Helpful A Question ]
AskAwayyy answered Saturday August 11 2007, 1:11 pm: The other two have given you lots of great advice, which I don't need to repeat, but;
I had skin cancer when I was younger and spend alot of time at the dermatologist. A few months ago he had me start using this face cream that drys out your acne, but along with deminishing blemishes it dryed out my lips! Cracking and bleeding didn't look very good with my new clear skin, so I asked him what I could do. Along with the things you've already been told he incouraged me to drink an 8 ounce glass of cranberry juice a day. I'm not excactly sure what in the juice helps your lips regenerate tissue, but I trust this man. Also vitamin e helps to mosturize skin, lips, etc. You can get vitamin e tablets in the vitamin eisle at your local grocery store. And its really inexpensive.

* Apply lip cream, balm or lipstick before going out in cold, dry weather. Reapply several times while outside.
* Choose a lip cream or balm that contains sunscreen. Sun exposure contributes to chapped lips.
* Avoid licking your lips. Saliva evaporates quickly, leaving lips drier than before you licked them.
* Avoid using a flavored lip balm, which can tempt you to lick your lips.
* Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of fluids. Dehydration can contribute to chapped lips.
* Use a humidifier at home to keep air moist. [ orphans's advice column | Ask orphans A Question ]
superstarblue89 answered Saturday August 11 2007, 11:34 am: ok first of all...that toothbrush thing makes your lips dryer...what you need is a lip balm with an exfoliant...I believe ChapStick makes one..it has these little beads that exfoliate the skin on your lips...you wont see instant results but given time it will work...if you don't like that then try getting a medicated lip balm...it'll burn and tingle for a little bit but works great too.
