When I had my computer fixed, iTunes was gone, but it still had the iTunes folder with my songs on it, so I tried a different way of charging it by just plugging it into the computer. x] And actually, it worked, on my computer there's a task bar with the time on it, and next to it, it had an icon of my iPod charging, so when it was done charging, I was sure to click that and select the thing/name that meant my iPod, then click "stop" so I could unplug my iPod safely. :] (But I do probably have a different computer than you, I have an HP pavilion, and a blue iPod nano.) ]
it should still charge.
my ipod can charge even if the computer doesnt have itunes.
but yeah it will charge and it shouldnt take your songs off unless you click something telling it too ]
