I am a beginner in dancing- the closest to a dancing class I have been involved in is learning the fox trot and line dances. My question is... if I wanted to start dancing for physical activity and fun, what would be a good form of dance for me? I want to build strength and endurance, and I love dancing to more modern music and I have a very musical background, so I do have a good sense of rhythm. Modern, hip hop, jazz, tap, ballet? Anything?
(PS, being able to use it on the dance floor is a plus.)
EriksBallerina answered Friday August 10 2007, 12:34 pm: well i would say that if you are serious about dancing and you want to be a really good dancer- start with ballet. but take it at a real ballet studio (try to find the state ballet of your state) not just some little dance studio. It's because the real ballet schools teach proper technique and that's so important.
But if you're only interested in using it on the dance floor i'd say take hip hop. It's a good workout and it's fun.
