Hi! I like this guy and I'd like to date him, but I really don't know what to do. I've never been on a date before (I know, that's pretty sad when you're 18) so I have no idea how to ask. I asked my friends but they said they wouldn't help cos they don't like that he's 17. I've known him for some time but we have different groups of friends. I'd like to ask him to hang out as friends first but, I don't know if it is because I know I like him, I keep thinking that he's gonna know right away if I ask. Do you have any advice for me? Thanks!

Why do your friends have a problem that he's 17? That's only a year younger than you, big deal. Just ask him to hang out, get to know a bit better, than ask him out on a date. It's going to take some courage, but you'll never know if you don't try, or you could wait around for him to ask you but not really know if he actually likes you. Just invite him a long to a group activity, he's not going to think that's weird. Just find some courage to ask him to hang out!
