A while back, I had seriously burned, dead, split ends from straightening my hair so much for parties and stuff. My mom decided to get my hair cut to 3 or 4 inches shorter, which devastated me when I saw how short it was. That was about one month ago, and I thought by the end of the summer my hair would be longer because I've only straightened it once since then. I want my hair to be medium-long. But my hair barely grew. It's longer, but still way too short for me. What can I do to make my hair grow faster and longer?

There are some things that supposedly help your hair to grow faster or healthier. One I personally like is to use paprika or ground red pepper with your shampoo. I don't know if it makes your hair grow faster, but my hair tends to look nicer. It stimulates the scalp, which is healthy for your hair. Also, if you have even somewhat curly hair (which is more porous than stick straight hair), which I'm guessing you do if you have been straightening it, use shampoo as little as possible. You can wash your hair with just conditioner and it will cause less damage and get your hair just as clean (for more info on this, get the book Curly Girl. Most libraries have it). In the meantime, there are some great styles out there for shorter hair and you will be glad, in the long run, that you had it cut. It will be so much healthier without the damage to the ends. That means it will be stronger, shinier, and generally prettier.
Good luck! [ blwinteler's advice column | Ask blwinteler A Question ]

Some people's hair grows slower than other's, and there isn't much you can do to change it. There are vitamins and supplements you can take such as Biotin ([Link](Mouse over link to see full location)) which claim to promote hair growth - so you might want to try that. You could also try massaging your scalp daily, as apparently it stimulates blood flow/growth (I'm not entirely sure how it works). Make sure your diet is balanced and healthy, a bad diet will slow down growth. Another tip is to get your hair trimmed regularly. You may think that it's a bit counterproductive but it will keep your ends healthy and will speed up growth. [ rainbowcherrie's advice column | Ask rainbowcherrie A Question ]
