Wuthering Heights

Question Posted Saturday July 21 2007, 6:26 pm

Okay, I had this summer assignment to pick a book off this list and read it, then pick a responce question off of a list to write an esssay about. Well, This teacher is unbelieveably hard to please. Well, I've narrowed it down to 3 responce questions, and I need somebodys advice, somebody thats read the book. Here are the Three that I've chosen:
Novelists and play wrights have often seen madness with a "dicerning eye". Select a novel or play in which a character's apparent Madness or irrational behavior plays an important role. Then write a well-organized essay in which you explain what this delusion or eccentric behavior consist of and how it may be judged resonable. Explain the significance of the "madness" to the work as a whole"
Well, obviously this one would work because the whole book is about madness in one way or another. However, my teacher would accuse me of simply writing a plot summary (I've had this teacher before, she doesnt like the way I write)

"From a novel or a play choose a character whose mind is pulled in conflicting directions by two compelling desires, ambitions, obligations, or influences. Then, in a well-organized essay, identify each of the two conflicting forces and explain how this conflict within one character illuminates the meaning of the work as a whole"

Well, this one would work, theres the issue between Cathy between Edgar and Heathcliff, then Cathy (the daughter) between Linton and Hareton. but thats not nesicerally clear, and she could nail me for that.

"Many plays and novels use contrasting places (two countries, two cities or towns, two houses, or the land and sea)to represent opposed forces or ideas that are central to the meaning of the work. Chose a novel or play that contrasts two such places. Write an essay explaining how the places differ, what each place represents, and how their contrast contribuetes to teh meaning of the work"
Well, obviously between the Wuthering heights and Thrushcross Grange, The two houses, Wuthering Heights and Thrushcross Grange, are highly symbolic. The Heights represents a "storm," whereas the Grange stands for "calm." Lockwood explains the meaning of "wuthering" as "descriptive of the atmospheric tumult to which its station is exposed in stormy weather."

What i need to know is which would probably be safest, most compatable. Im sorry its so long, but thank you so much

hmm both sound rather easy maybe the second one it sounds more appealing to me... and maybe the teacher dosent like your work because she thinks you can do better and that you have good potential your not using? and maybe you dont work hard enough or long enough on things, my teacher in language arts liked me writing but didnt like the thought that i didnt use myself to full potential, and if neither are true and she just dosent like you then realize your great and her opinion of you dosent mean squat
