period

Question Posted Thursday July 19 2007, 11:46 am

13/f

i just switched to tampons, because i don't like pads at all. so i'm kind of confused about them. today my flow is regular, and at 11:30 this morning i put in a Playtex plastic regular flow tampon. so until what time should i keep it in for? i'm scared about TSS because i don't want to keep it in too long. thanks!

Depending on your flow, you could leave it in for different amounts of time. Since it is a regulaar flow then leave it in for an hour or two. If a heavy flow then leave in for about an hour. If a light flow then leave it in for 2-3 or 4 hours.

Hope this helps,
Alyssa

hey

look, if you have a really really light period & put a regular in, and you go to take it out 3 hours later, you can't! it's stuck.. you have to keep it in longer. it doesn't matter ONLY how many hours you keep it in, but what your FLOW is.

so, i would say change it every 3-4 hours. if you tug at the tampon and it just won't come out, leave it in for another 30 mins. TSS is very, very rare. if you're careful, you won't get it.

sometimes it makes me laugh cause there have been many times when i've just left my tampon in all night and forgot about it. but i'm more careful now. so if i haven't gotten TSS yet, you won't get it anytime soon.

when your period is heavy, use a heavy tampon & keep it in for 3 hours. same with light, 3 hours or less even.

any time over four hours is what puts you at risk for TSS...I always change mine every 3...but thats just me...it's really up to you...just don't leave it in over 4.
