at my school its about 2 1/2 months (not including pre season, which is a few weeks, before school starts.

Depends. Some schools have a spring team, and a fall team.
Spring Team is usually April- June, or what month school gets out(If you get out in May, then it probably starts in March).
The fall team is usually September- November.
