disabled desktop.

when i go to select a wallpaper in the "display properties" window (under the "desktop" tab), most everything is gray and disabled. i can't choose anything but a color to make my whole desktop. i've run ad-aware & tried other solutions i've been given, but nothing seems to work. any help?

Easy, just do this simple step;
1.Restart your PC and immediately before the booting logo of windows XP(whatever kinda windows) shows Hit the F8 in the keyboard (Save mode)
2.After logging in as an Administrator, follow this; Start/all programs/accessories / system tools / System restore
3. Do the System restore to restore your PC settings Back to the previous date. Follow the step of system restore services. None of your data will be corrupt or missing!
4. Enjoy Your PC
