Ack! Scared .. =/

Question Posted Sunday July 15 2007, 10:12 pm

Alright. I'm concerned about my weight. I don't eat. It's not like I make a concious effort not to eat, I just don't. I'm 5'1 and I weigh 83.8 lbs. At the beginning of summer, I weighed 90. My BMI is 15.9. Anything under 18.5 is considered underweight. Now I've always been skinny, and I never really have had great eating habits, but I don't know what to do! I'm not exactly in the greatest mental state right now(relationship troubles. don't get me started). I get full really easily and I usually only end up eating dinner and maybe a snack or two every day. It's horrible. I'm always tired, I get dizzy when I stand up, the works. Could it be possible that I have an eating disorder? Or is it just stress? I don't know what to do .. and I'm scared. :(

Hey,
I know this may be scary, but it sounds like you could possibly have an eating disorder.. I mean, don't take it out of hand too quickly; only a doctor can reassure you of these things. The only reason I can't be sure, is because I don't know whether anorexia/ect. is always self inflicted.. Though I'm pretty sure it's not.
Have your mom or dad take you to the doctor. Please, please don't just blow this advice over.. this is serious if you're always dizzy/ect.
You're definitely WAY underweight, and you need medical attention.
The reason you get full so quickly is because your stomach has shrunken, because once you get full, you stop eating, so you eat a little less at every meal, allowing the stomach to shrink even more. It's a nasty little cycle that can only be helped if you get your stomach bigger.
This is where the doctor comes in. He can perscribe weight gain products, or even give you in IV or feeding tube. (Do NOT worry, it's not as bad as it sounds, and once again, I can't perscribe anything for you..)
I wouldn't reccomend you try to solve this yourself. You need to see a doctor, badly, because you could get VERY sick because of this. Please get medical attention when you get the chance?
In the meantime, try to eat more snacks. Don't wait until your stomach growls, eat when you feel like it. It will help your stomach grow, so you have more room for food, so you have more room to gain weight!
If you have to force yourself to eat, that's what you're going to have to do... just tell yourself it will help you.

I'm sorry if I've scared you at all, but I need to let you know your situation is urgent..

XOXO
KAT!

Hun, it isn't an eating disorder unless you are making yourself throw up, or you're not eating because you feel like you're fat.

You kinda remind me on what happened to me. I started having gallbladder problems...and I had to get it out because I couldn't eat at all! I had to force myself to eat apple sauce so that I could feel better! Go to your doctor, ask them for a Hida scan, or just talk to him on what it could be. It could also be stress, or a depression issue as well.
I wish you luck and I hope you feel better soon! If you have any questions on what a Hida scan is, or if you just want help on what foods you can eat so that your body could get better, or if you want to know about anything else. Ask me a private question.

Good luck!

~Vera
