Question Posted Sunday July 15 2007, 5:34 pm

So I love my boyfriend very much. When something is wrong with me, I cannot open up to him. I have tried SO hard and I cant even force myself to say antyhign and it causes so many problems and guilt. He thinks its because my last relationship was abusive emotionally and so i just shut down. How can I fix this? I want to takl to him about everything!

wow, he thinks you were in an abusive relationship? first of all i would tell him that you weren't in that sort of relationship and let him know you just have a hard time sharing your feelings. easy enough right? then you have to make an effort of talking. you dont have to do it right away just slowly will probably do. but it isnt fair to your boyfriend if you dont just open up a little. sure its scary but after a while it wont be so bad.

Maybe you should find a way to tell him that you cant open up ro him somethimes and see what he says. If you tell him this he'll understand you better and give you your space when thoose times come. And eventually you will be able to try to open up to him more little by little. I speak from personal experiance.

It's completely understandable why you wouldn't be able to open up to your boyfriend considering your past relationship. You say he's aware of it? I suggest talking to him. Tell him that you WANT to open up and talk to him, but it's hard. If he loves you as much as you love him, he'll probably be willing to help you overcome this obstacle. It'll make your relationship alot stronger. Best of luck!
