I sorta want to get my tongue pierced :]
Does anybody have theirs done? How much does it hurt, and how long does it take to heal?
I mean, is it kinda wierd, because I'm kind of known as a prep, but I want to get it done...
Also, do guys prefer tongue pericings for kissing?
kittaytoro answered Monday July 9 2007, 11:23 pm: okay, so since i haven't personally had this peircing done, i am not sure what the pain range is. i'm sure it's not too bad. it honestly all depends on your pain tolerance, but it should compare to getting your ears peirced.
i know my cousin who had hers done had said it wasn't too painful, but in the first week or two, it IS difficult to eat, because your tongue is swollen. that's about how long it takes to heal, if it's done properly: two or three weeks, about.
basically, the only thing you'd have to worry about would be the swollen tongue part. just drink lots of fluids, and if you have to, get yourself some nutrition drinks or supplements, because i know it is hard to eat with your tongue all swollen. as far as i know, eating at any other time when it's healed is easy, though.
don't worry about what 'clique' you belong to, or anything! i'm actually sure your friends will find it very unique. i highly doubt anyone would be like "omg, ew. she got her tongue peirced.." haha. i'd say go for it!
and, i'm not sure on the guys thing, sorry. haha, i suppose it all depends on the guy..

But surprisingly, most the people who get their tongue pierced agree that it's one of the less painful piercings (although it doesn't look nearly as pleasant.) You have to remember that your tongue is a muscle, so it's going to be different than your ear, lip, eyebrow, etc.
I've had mine done twice (took it out the first time & decided I wanted it back.) Both times were a breeze for me. Of course you're going to feel a pinch, but if I were to put it on a pain level, it'd be close to ears (if not less painful.)
Now, on the other hand, the healing process is another story. The first couple-few days are going to be a hassle because it'll be very difficult (& somewhat painful) to talk or eat with a swollen tongue. Technically, it'll take about 6+ weeks to fully heal. But the swelling will go away within 3-7 days.
Who cares what your stereotype is? I am certainly not "labeled" as a person who has piercings coming out of their face & fingers. Piercings are becoming more acceptable in today's society & are no longer viewed as a form of "rebellion." Do what suites yourself as long as it's reasonable & doesn't affect you from getting a job, of course.
As far as guys prefering it - yes & no. Depends on the guy. I know my boyfriend liked it when I had it. Some guys might find it attractive - just depends on who you're kissing. [ LadyH's advice column | Ask LadyH A Question ]
