I have mono. I have to make an appointment with my family doctor soon, but until then I have a few questions.
Are you able to exercise with mono?? I heard it depends on how you feel, but some people said it could really make me sick. My spleen isn't enlarged yet though.
Would swimming/going out in the sun be a bad idea?? It is very hot out, but I'm not sure how much it would affect me.
Since my spleen isn't enlarged yet & I haven't had the urge to sleep a lot, I don't think my mono is in full swing, but I was diagnosed with it. I did try some google articles, but they weren't really helpful.
Thanks!

LOL_x0x answered Monday July 9 2007, 4:37 pm: My best friend had mono, and the doctor told her to rest. Like Volleyball said below, excercising could cause your spleen to rupture and that would not be good.
I think swimming or going out would be a bad idea because of this, and the fact that mono is contagious. So like I said, just rest. You don't have to sleep, you can read a book, watch a movie, or listen to music. Of course, you can update your advicenators =]
Feel better soon & Good luck!
Volleyball2150 answered Monday July 9 2007, 2:36 pm: Hey,
I can help you. I've had mono and it really sucked because since I play volleyball, my doctor specifically told me NOT TO EXERCISE!! If you are being active while having mono, it could rupture your spleen and can make you die. REST REST REST REST REST!!! that's the only thing you can do while you have mono.
Swimming would be bad, but if you're just in the sun.. that's not bad. The only thing you have to be aware of is that you cannot move around too much.
ANG answered Monday July 9 2007, 1:54 pm: If you do exercise, try to steer away from crunchs. You shouldn't do any exercises that focus on the stomach. Doing them could enlarge your spleen, even if it isn't already. I have mono, and I go in the tanning beds. Try not to stay out in the sun a long time. As far as swimming goes, you probably don't want to actually swim, swim. Ya know what I mean? If you do too many over-whelming activities, it can pro-long your mono. Try to sleep and take naps during the day. Just let the mono take it's course. As I said doing too many activities, will make mono stay longer. Take it from me, the girl who has mono. :] [ ANG's advice column | Ask ANG A Question ]
eskimo answered Monday July 9 2007, 1:26 pm: well, I had mono last year and I wasnt aware of it until it was in its full swing, so i kept doing my normal activities (running, dance, and swimming) and it made it a lot worse. I ended up missing 2 straight months of school soo...yeah. I wouldnt put too much strain on your body unless your doctor says you can return to normal activities. Good Luck! And I'm so sorry you have mono it sucks... [ eskimo's advice column | Ask eskimo A Question ]
