how can i get my body to be leaner?? i am very athletic and lift weights alot...what can i do to have muscle and be very strong but not bulky, instead lean???
AKSherma answered Sunday July 8 2007, 12:19 am: It has a lot to do with genetics- just like someone who has broad shoulders (like a football player) can never be as thin and lean as a runner. Genetics has a lot to do with it.
However, if you want more lean muscle and less "bulk" then change your workout to more cardiovascular- reduce amount of fat which gives a bulky look, and change your workout for more higher reps but lower weight- this way you won't get much bulk.
Also, make sure to eat a balanced diet- not too much protein. The amount that the body needs to maintain is about 1 gram of protein for each kilogram that you weigh.

It's the same reason why Arnold cant bench half a ton. You need to pick either looks, or strenght. There is a middle however, but you won't look like those guys in the magazines.
