Question Posted Friday July 6 2007, 6:24 pm

Okay, well I'm 14 years old and I'm 5'0.
I am 165 pounds.
I was wondering what the average weight for me is?
It is really hard for me to committ to a diet.
Does anyone have any tips for me?

-Try eating three average-sized meals and a two snacks per day, to keep you energized and full.
Like the first person who answered said, try snacking on healthier things. Like Pretzels, Low Fat Popcorn, Fruits, Veggies, 100 calorie packs, Yoplait Yogurt, etc.
-When you have a craving for something, and want it REALLY bad, try this. Delay then Decide. Do something else for about 10-15 minutes. Like Take a walk, a bubble bath, give yourself a pedicure. Then if you still want something, take a smaller portion of it. you'll feel good that you made a better decision, so i doubt you'll even take what you craved.
-Avoid Eating in front of the TV. Beleive me, this is a good tip. I always used to snack in front of the tv, then I discovered that I ate way more than what I planned on. Eat something BEFORE you go and sit down in front of it. Then, try doing some crunches.
-Eat around 1500 calories per day. (400 for breakfast, 600 for lunch, 300 for dinner [its the last meal of the day so you won't have time to burn it off], and 200 for snacks.
-Workout right after a meal. Preferably(sp?) after Lunch or Dinner. You're gonna want to burn 3500 calories per week to loose a pound of fat. an hour of running, jogging, or biking for 4x per week shall do the trick.
-if you need any more tips. feel free to inbox me. i have this book that has pretty good tips to stay motivated in a diet.

hope i helped.

Go to the gym and ask for a bodyfat check, calipers work the best. You wan't to be between 5% to 25$ it also depends on if your a male or female.

I'm 16 5'10" and 160 pounds at 10% bodyfat, and I'm on the varsity wrestling team. So I would say, being 10 inches taller then you and weighting 5 pounds less... that yes you are overweight.

You NEED to commit your self to a diet. There is no other way. You need to do this yourself.

Your average weight would be inbetween 100 lbs and 110 pounds. But i mean, i think being ten pounds over the "average" could be average too, you know? anyways... some things you could do for your diet is like when you feel like a snack, eat soem yogurt... it works.. i like live off of yoplait yogurt. but when youre just going to eat snacks and stuff pick healthy things instead of junk food. anopther good thing to eat is toasted wheat thins.. and they taste pretty good. Also, besides just eating right you ahve to exercise to lose weight so i would suggest running a little eveyrday and doing some situps and things like tht until you can do more and more. i think if u realy try hard you could commit to a diet.. it just has to be the right diet for you. hope i helped :)
