it takes 7 days but if you don't take it at the exact same time every day it won't work as effectively...also make sure that you aren't taking any other medications that can reduce the effectiveness of the pill because several can...and still use other forms of protection like a condom just in case something happens

it says it takes about 7 days to prevent pregency but you need another birth control method like condoms.
Usually people will say a month before you can have sex.
but my doctor suggested 3-4 months to be completely sure. you have to take the pill every day at the same time though. Pill taking mistakes decrease effectiveness.
