It's 3500 calories to lose one pound, but you do not have to always do it by exercising. Exercise helps a great deal. Running, walking, swimming, jogging, sit ups, push ups, crunches, etc. all help you burn calories. Calories are burned by doing normal day activities also. Typing, walking around the house, moving your arms/legs, even fidgeting. Also, you have to remember that even if you burned 3500 calories, you're still eating throughout the day so you're taking calories in. Here's a website-

If you fill in your information there, it will give you approximately how many calories you should intake daily. That way you can see if you're eating enough/too many. Try filling it in the best you can. Also, you can look up ways to burn calories.

it's 3500 calories to lose 1 lb...but try not to lose it in one day because usually you will gain it back because that's rapid weight loss and really dangerous...try spreading it out over two or three days

From what I have heard, 3500 calories. Yes it is a lot, but exercise and a healthy diet can quickly add up to the desired weight loss. I hope this helps! =)
