OhMyPEACHYKEEN answered Sunday July 1 2007, 7:05 pm: Teens dont need that much sleep but its best with it. You should get 8 hrs of sleep but most teens get 5/6 hrs. That should be good, but then again it depends on you. Stress could be causing you not to sleep, but also eating. If you snack late at night or drink soda then you'll have a hard time falling asleep. So eat right, relax, and if that doesn't work try some herbal teas that help you fall asleep like Sleepytime. Or get sounds that are soothing to you. Or try drinking a glass of hott milk before bed. Hope I helped. [ OhMyPEACHYKEEN's advice column | Ask OhMyPEACHYKEEN A Question ]

For teens, it is common for them to go to sleep later & want to get up later. You may not be tired until 11 pm, therefore you would want to sleep until 7 or 8 am. If you have to get up early, try going to bed at 10 pm. Unfortunately, some teens can't fall asleep that early. It all depends on your body, eating habits, sleeping habits, & what you do throughout the day. The least amount of sleep you should get is about 6 hours every night. Try not going under that. Stress can definitely be causing you not to sleep. It is actually a huge factor in sleep loss. Don't get me wrong, if for some reason a few nights you get less than 6, then that's ok. Just don't make it into a habit.
