Facebook Pictures

Question Posted Friday June 29 2007, 9:56 pm

14/f

In 2 facebook groups, there are pictures of me. Nothing bad, just some random pictures. Is it dangerous to keep those pictures on the groups?

Thanks

it depends. if it's just a group on your network, it should be fine. if it's a global group, go look at it and see if there are a whole lot of people in it. if there aren't really that many people in it, you should be fine. but if there are like more than 50, make sure that on the pictures it doesn't give away any information about you... like, don't tag yourself in it. and make sure that you're not wearing a shirt that says the name of your school and a sport you may play or whatever. that's a big giveaway. but a lot of people have pictures on different groups on facebook, so if your pictures are just normal pictures and not you like stripping in front of the camera you should be fine. it won't hurt to delete them though.

As long as the pictures don't share any personal information then you should be fine.

Just make sure that none of the following is included:

Name
Age
Location
Sports Teams you may play on
School you may go to

Make sure that no information in any scenario (probable or not) would lead to someone finding you.

If you're really worried about it though, just ask whomever put them up to delete them (unless you're able to yourself).

As long as you don't hand out personal information, you should be okay. But always remember, if anything ever seems strange to you (or if anyone...) stop what you're doing/who you're talking about. If you ever feel threatened by anyone over the internet, go straight to a trusted adult. If they think it's bad enough they can contact the proper authorities.

Always be careful on the internet. Someone may say they're your age, but they could be some 40 year old guy wanting nothing but sex. It's not always the case, but you can never be too careful when it comes to online predators.

Nope, if its a private group for your network only you should be fun. But if its public that means other people from around the world could see it. I dont think anyone would try to cause you danger, but you never know.

Over all though - I don't think its a big deal, and its pretty harmless, just be careful what groups you put your pictures in!
