Virus.

Question Posted Tuesday June 26 2007, 4:38 pm

I have a virus on my computer. I dont know what one. All I know is it makes Porn ADS pop up when Im on google or any other website then ADS for "free movie tickets" "free dinner" and such pop up and it gets annoying because I can not access a website without pop ups.

What can I download (FREE) to get rid of this virus?

Run spybot, ad-aware, superantispyware, and either antivir or avast. One antispyware rarely catches them all, so you should use at least two.

In the future, always have an antispyware and antivirus running. If you don't use limewire, or similar programs, I recommend you run these programs all the time:

If you do use limewire, or similar programs, use this setup:

(Avast acts a bit like a firewall, so it's useful if you're not going to use one. You shouldn't use a firewall when using P2P programs like limewire. Antivir is a better antivirus, but it contains no firewall-like abilities. If you have a hardware firewall, you don't need COMODO or Avast)

hey

okay, a few things you can do.

first off, you can go to the control panel - add / remove programs - and delete ANY random programs you see.

that will probably do it.

make sure you restart your computer for it to register that you deleted the programs.

if you think something is suspicious & you don't remember downloading it, odds are it's the virus.

you can also try-

after you delete the random programs to help stop the pop-ups.

Doesn't sound like a virus, sounds like adware.
