If you damage your hair, like by using heat on it often, like a straightening iron or curling iron or even blow drying, your hair could break.
Spray some hairspray on your hand, then smooth it over the top of your hair. That should help take care of flyaways. There are also special shampoos and conditioners to control flyaways and frizz.
However, if your hair is pouffy... it might be because you have been putting it up in a bun overnight. That's what happens to me sometimes, so I just wash my hair when I wake up instead of before I go to bed.

Paul Mitchell has this serum in the Super Skinny collection. I forget exactly what it's called but it's in a pump bottle. You smooth it over your hair, and it works really well. It also makes your hair shiny. Sorry I couldn't remember the name. [ browniebabe121a's advice column | Ask browniebabe121a A Question ]

or 'fluid crystal shine serum' by 'wella'. i use both of those and they work very well.
