There is another reason for spotting. When a girl goes on birth control pills, there are a number of different doses or strenghts. Doctors do not always know which is the best dose for each woman. One of the ways to know is if you are on birth control pills, and you have break thru spotting during the month, but it is NOT time for your period, that means that THAT dose of birth control is not strong enough for that woman. The doctor would need to put her on a stronger dose, or it won't work.

Spotting is when you bleed little bits throughout a period of time but dont actually have your period. It's usually associated with pregnancy because it happens to most pregnant women when they first get pregnant due to there period stopping.

When a girl says she's spotting, it means that she has a tiny bit of blood spots showing up every so often in the day. often times when woman are pregnant a first sign is spotting b/c their period will stop.
