If you become 2 weeks late for your next due period, get tested. Why? Because if you are a teen, your periods may likely still be irregular. If you are not a teen, 1 week will suffice.
Also, because you want to allow enough time for the pregnancy hormone to be strong enough in your urine for the test to accurately read it. If you take it too soon, you run a higher risk of a false negative, which is far more likely than a false positive.
