in sims 1, you got a baby instantly. in sims 2, i did try for baby but my baby hasnt come yet?

it does take 3 sim days but theres a cheat you can do to speed up the pregnancy.
1. press ctrl shift c all at once
2. type in boolprop testingcheatsenabled true (do this in the neighborhood)
3. click on the family you want to go to. (make sure the sim is pregnant)
4. right click and click on spawn
5. then click tombstone of life and death
6. click on speed up pregnancy
and the baby should come out faster

sometimes it takes a while... when they do it if you hear a lulaby at the end it means shes pregnant.. and she gives birth 3 days later
make sure when they do it you choose try for baby not woohoo

Ah, it takes so much more time, but it's also so much more worth it in sims two, than in sims one.
In sims two, you first have to hear the lullaby sound after trying for a baby. If you don't hear that, your sims aren't pregnant yet. It's kind of like real life, only your sims usually get pregnant. It's like an eight out of ten chance kind of thing.
Then, it takes three days for the mommy sim to be able to have the kid. You'll see that the mom gets bigger each day. :)
