someone else signing on in my name?

Question Posted Friday June 8 2007, 6:43 pm

Today, just about half an hour ago, i guy i didn't know IM'd me.

He said that a friend of his had asked me to ask who I was, because apparently 'I' was saying things like i wanted to screw him.

I looked at his profile, and knew who he was by seeing his myspace, but i never ONCE have IM'd the guy he was talking about. And if i did, i certainly would not say i wanted to screw him.

I'm just really freaked out. This has happened before, someone saying that I said things that I KNOW i did not say. But this time it's a little different since i know the boy who accused me of IMing him.

I've already changed my password, but i don't know what else to do. I'm painfully shy so i can't IM him and try to clear it up, it's not at all an option. I'm just looking to see if anyone can tell me what to do, and what might've happened?

A Hacker? Brother pulling an elaborate joke? Any possibilites and advice are welcome.

I may KNOW both of these boys, but i'm not close with either of them at all. I'm 100% sure it's not a joke on me...

Keep in mind you don't know this guy.He could be some one you know so just talk about anything and pretend the other conversation never happened. You'll find out the truth.Or you could just ask what "you" said to him and tell him it really wasn't you. What's the worst that could happen?

Make sure you have a strong password.
by the way I make all my passwords "password".No one has ever stolen any of my accounts!

So immature. Ignore them, it's all you can really do. What I would do is, next time you get an IM like that say something on the lines of:

I don't know what you've heard but not only do I not think your friend is attractive, I would never want anything to do with him or you. He obviously got you to IM me with all this bullshit so you can tell him that although I think it's cute yall are trying to get my attention, I would never screw him.

It's most likely just a stupid joke.

ok change your password and secret question and anything else like postal code etc that someone may knw and use to get access to your mail. and if you have an alternative email change the passwords to that too. make sure you log off completely if using another computer delete private data (if its MSN) type jibrish (ex. jhbjh@hotmail.com ) and blah password and cancel sign in so this email remains and so your email dsnt look tempting for hackers who use that computer after you. dont write your passwords anywhere and i suggest you get a protection system against hackers or whatever the program that anonymizes your IP address to hackers is called.

good luck!

hope it helps

Maybe it was THEM playing the joke in the first place.
Don`t worry about it if you know you didn`t do anything like that.
hope I helped.
