I'm currently taking Lexapro for depression and anxiety. The medicine is mainly for depression but Generalized Anxiety Disorder and depression go hand in hand. I know it's a terribly hard thing to deal with and I really do feel your pain.

What I suggest is talking to the doctor who prescribes your medication about increasing the doseage, or finding a medication that will target more of your anxiety. Talking to a psychiatrist may also help because generally there's a root cause of the anxiety. Hope it all works out in the end!

You seem to think that the lexapro is the cure- all. While lexapro is an efficient anti- depressant in patients, it is not an anti- anxiety medication. Anxiety is the root of the issue here with your sleep over phobia. There are anti- anxiety medications that could help, but it is best to try to conquer the anxiety yourself. Stay up so late until you can no longer fight sleep. Take objects with you that make you feel at home (such as a blanket).

I had the same problem when I was younger. I wasnt able to sleep over at peoples house until i was like 12, I think it was because I didnt like being away from my mom. This is what you should try. Stay up wicked late with your friend, so that your so tired you'll just want to sleep. Thats what I did, my friend and i talked till like 2 in the morning, and i just, was able to sleep over, and later I figured out, its easier for me to sleep in a comfy area rather then like, the floor, or sleeping bag. Your anxiety could kick in sometimes, even though shes your best friend, it still happens. Hope I Helped! Happy Summer!
