Honestly an hour a day will get you back into shape in no time. Also start doing crunches/sit ups. You should start doing 100 crunches throughout the day (you don't have to do them all at once) and then you work up to say 500 within a couple months. You will have great abs if you do 100 crunches a day, garenteed. Also if you have a sweet tooth thats ok, I do to. But try eatting your sweets that you want earlier in the day, it sounds silly but it makes a difference. You will have the whole day to burn it off. Also the more you eat at night the more weight you will gain, or the harder it will be for you to get into shape. If you eat a big lunch and maybe a good sized dinner you will see results! :) Good luck!

Start slow & work your way up. Do whatever exercise you want/need to do & then start by doing it for 10-15 minutes. Each day increase the level of intensity & the amount of time you're doing your exercises for. That way you won't do so much at once & get bored/tired of it. I think the best time to exercise is when you're comfortable & ready. Exercise is not just a physical thing, but a mental thing. I know there's somedays where I really don't want to exercise, so I do something light & try not to eat as much. In the summer, you could exercise early in the morning, or at 11 am. I usually exercise around 3 pm, just because I've had lunch & breakfast. It isn't good to exercise on an empty stomach, but it isn't good to exercise after you just ate either. You should probably wait about an hour or two. Since it is summer, you might want to incorporate swimming into your routine. Start by exercising three times a week & when you're ready, slowly increase it to four or five. For a sweet tooth, try 100 calorie packs or Mini Delights. They're chocolately & almost tastes like a dessert, but they're only 90 calories.
