so its like my dream to get really really good at wakeboarding. the thing is, whenever it's my time to wakeboard i chicken out and i can't do it. i'm really scared i'm going to have a horrible fall and hurt myself so i just cant get myself to go out in the water and do it. i've went wake boarding before but i had some pretty ugly falls and i suck at it.
first off how do i let myself get into the water to wakeboard without chickening out? and what are some tips for staying up on the board? please tell me everything there is to know about wakeboarding. i tried google but i just got confused.

EriksBallerina answered Wednesday May 30 2007, 12:11 pm: do you have trouble getting up on it? The only trick is to be sort of in fetal position but with the tip of the board out of the water, and point your feet.
Then when you get up put your left foot forward and lean to the right (back) so you won't get pulled forward by the boat. Try to keep most of your pressure on the right foot.
If you feel like you're losing stability, bend your knees really deep and tense your abdominal muscles, or just let go of the rope and try to fall backwards so you won't hit the rope or anything.
For a while just don't try to do any tricks or anything- get really good at just staying on top of the water.

You have to just force yourself to do it, just once. After you make yourself do it once, you'll be more willing to do it again.
Falls are going to happen. Injuries -- they might happen too. That all comes with the territory of a sport like that. But practice makes perfect, and you can't even practice if you don't even try it once. [ Bucket's advice column | Ask Bucket A Question ]
