Anime is short for animeshiyon. Which here in the good 'ol U.S.A. means Animation. Which means it is an animated television show.
Manga are books.The written form of an anime.Not all anime have manga and not all manga have animes. In most cases though,manga are develropled before they decided to make it into an anime.
Anime=show Manga=book,ok?

the advicenator before mine is right. also, most animes are actually mangas.. but they wanted the manga to be like a tv show and not just like a book, so.. like.. they made it an anime.

You watch anime on tv. You read manga on paper. Manga can not be on tv, and anime can not be on paper.

The answer above mine might be confusing. Anime is never manga. Anime is often based on manga.
