It's really just a label, and a type of music. Emo could be considered a good thing [there's nothing wrong with being in touch with your emotions!] but idiot kids decided being emo was cool & then they trashed it giving it a bad name.
Scene is emo but it's happier. They dye their hair weird colors & cut it themselves. They wear supremely tight clothes & are extremely tiny kids. They tend to be straight edge, but some drink & party. They believe in being HxC [hardcore]. And they to tend to think they're hood.
ryuryu34 answered Monday May 28 2007, 9:38 pm: for sure emos cut themselves, cry for no reason at all, do suicidal stuff( the more suicidal the thing is gthe more the emo they are, its like the more people you kill the more points). But, from my understanding, many "emo" kiddies are perceived as emotional, depressed, and listen to screamo bands such as Hawthorne Heights. They might talk about "slitting their wrists" but most of the time, people only say things like that to get attention. They obsess over the idea of cutting themselves and "how bad their life is." To me, they are only people who crave attention and get it from appearing to be dark, depressed and emotionally unstable. (Obviously, the term "emo" comes from the word, "emotional.)
"Scene" people could be considered a bit more cheerful than "emo" people. You may see some of them on Myspace who write "Thug Life" or "Blood" on their knuckles. They often think they're in "gangs" when really, none of them would survive in the ghetto for one day. Lots of these people listen to techno music, or just really obscure bands. Sometimes they like neon colors and bright makeup. They often think their the most wonderful creation ever and that they should be worshipped by all of their Myspace friends.
Actually, there isn't a huge difference between "emo" and "scene" kids because they both lack creativity, so they have to follow a trend. They also crave attention and act this way in order to get it. [ twistedsister17's advice column | Ask twistedsister17 A Question ]
No no, that's a joke. The thing is, they're both just stupid people trying to act different byu placing themselves in groups. "Emo" people are supposed to be more deep and emotional (basically whiney and sad). "Scene" is like the clothing and "style" of "emo" mixed with a punkier, "edgier" attitude.
But really, Emo doesn't mean "Emotional" it actually stands for "Emotive Hardcore" making fun of a harder that thou rock. Indian Summer and Rites of Spring are real emo. Today's "emo" is just stupid people acting stupid. Scene is a happier copy.
