Hey you all! First off, I am 21/f and the other people I am mentioning in my question are 21 as well, if that matters. Here is the situation.
I have two really close friends. One is a guy and one is a girl. They are dating and have been for about a year. The girl, Erica, is my best friend and has been for over 10 years. The guy, Jarrod, just moved here from another city to be closer to my best friend and he and I are really close as well. He tells me things that he can't even tell her. Lol. Well, the problem is that they live together now and have for a few months and I go over there and stay the night with them sometimes.
Well, she really just does not treat him right. He treats her like a freakin GODDESS and she just takes advantage of him and dosen't appreciate him. She even makes jokes about how he is her "bitch" and things like that. It just... isnt right. He is in a wheelchair so, she needs to be helping him out, but she dosen't. She treats him like crap! And, I hate saying that because she is my best friend and I LOVE HER too death, but... he just dosen't deserve it.
Jarrod has even come to be and talked to me about it a few times. He knows that he is "whipped" and that she treats him like shit, but he dosen't know how to fix it.
My real problem here is that I like him a lot. I would love to date a guy like him, and yet... my friend has him and takes advantage of it. I COULD TREAT HIM SO MUCH BETTER and would appreciate him a lot more! Honestly. But, I could never go behind my friend's back and take him from her. He already admitted to liking me a few months ago... but he stayed with Erica and nothing came of it cause he loves her. He really does. He is head over heels for her and my friend loves him too, but just dosen't deserve him if she can't treat him right. *Sigh*. I dunno what to do. I am just confused and hate seeing her do this to him whenever I would NEVER treat him that way.
Help please?!?! Thanks!

I wish I could tell you to get them to break up and be with him, but she's your best friend, AND you say he loves her. Well, at LEAST for now, since it sounds like you care more about his happiness than your own right now, talk to erica about it, as a friend. Tell her you don't mean to criticize her, but what she's doing REALLY isn't right. depending on how the conversation goes and how she handles it, you may have to end up telling her how you feel about him (gonna have to go with YOUR judgement on that), just DON't make it seem as though you just want her out of the picture. As for him... you should talk to him too. Tell him that sometimes, he just has to stand up for himself (you don't necessarily have to use the words "treating you like crap"... it'll make him feel bad about himself). He doesn't have to start snapping at her or anything, just to tell her when he feels she's being, well, a bitch=/ If in the end it doesn't work out between them, wait a while, then talk to her about how she would feel about you going out with him. For now it's just one big mess and it's hard to see what's coming next, but for now, just do what feels right. It's not fair to keep your mouth shut when you have something important to say, especially when it's for someone you care about.
Hope i helped^_^ [ xJustAskMeDuhx's advice column | Ask xJustAskMeDuhx A Question ]
