GIMP and saving

Question Posted Monday May 14 2007, 2:23 am

I downloaded GIMP - I'm not having a problem with the program at all. But when I go to save - it won't let me. But I can copy/paste the image into paint and save it that way.

Does anyone know how I could possibly cut out the copy/paste to paint portion, because it's becoming a pain in the ass?

Saving is somewhat complex, make sure you're doing it correctly. Go to file>save. Type "stuff.gif"(without quotes) in the first box, in the dropdown select "desktop". Click ok. Click export. The picture should be on the desktop.

If that doesn't work, just uninstall the GIMP and GTK+, delete C:program filesgimp-2.0 and C:program filescommon filesgtk, and download and install them from the site again( [Link](Mouse over link to see full location) ). That almost always fixes every problem. If it doesn't, tell us what specific error message it gives you when you try to save.
