i'm 16/f. i don't like drinking or smoking. my best friend used to have a lot of problems with drugs [weed and coke] and drinking. she was put into rehab for a month or two and she recently got out. she keeps drinking and i'm afraid she's going to relapse. she doesn't think she is going to relapse because she's not doing drugs. what could i say to her? i'm afraid to talk to her about it. thanks in advance. =]
explain to her calmly that what she is doing is very, very harmful to her body. don't accuse her, saying, "omg _____ YOU always drink!" like no then she won't listen to you. but if you just calmly talk to her "hey. look you're one of my really great friends, and i'm worried about you. you always drink, and i'm scared that you will permanently damage your body from all these harmful things you're doing to it. i think you should stop." be direct. don't be sarcastic. explain that you really care about her & she should listen to you because she is your best friend. you just gotta get her at a time when she's calm & relaxed. do it in a private place, like at your house. not at the movies or in a restaurant in case something happens, like she verbally / physically attacks you.
