Breaking a Commandment?

Question Posted Sunday May 6 2007, 9:36 pm

Okay, two things. First of all, I'm a very religous person -- or I try to be. But I have an issue with one of the commandments. Is it wrong for me to "want to have sex with" another woman's husband? He's middle-aged and I'm only 13/f! Which kind of scares me... but he's famous and everything and is like... 41 so yeah. Anyways, my other problem is this...
I'm Catholic and I've always strongly believed in God and Jesus and Mary and Guardian Angels and Heaven etc. ever since I was a little girl. Like first--second grade. And I'm proud. I used to always pray and buy products and prayer products etc. because of it. But lately I've lost faith. I've been thinking, "what if the bible is some book someone wrote and someone missunderstood it?" which i KNOW is not true! or something like that
please helppp

At some point, everyone thinks that. I've wondered if it was just some book a bunch of guys wrote because they were bored. But, I've realized that in my heart, I know thats not true, and there is a God.

And when your talking about that guy that you want to have sex with or whatever, is he like a famous singer, or actor? Like, I mean as long as you don't act upon it, i'm pretty sure your ok. That is one of the commandments though, so hmm. just don't do it. and try to think about other things.

I hoped that helped

I know it may seem otherwise, but your questioning of your religion is what makes you a good Catholic. People who are indoctrinated as children, and never question their faith, have no real faith, because they've never really thought about what they're believing. If you can question the validity of the Bible, and still believe that it's right and true, then you haven't lost faith, you've strengthened it!

As for the other issue, it's not wrong to want it, necessarily. To act on that, however, would be wrong no matter what religion you follow. Try to keep your little fantasies to yourself, because it's no fun being a homewrecker.

I think your starting to realize what the Catholic religion really is. Catholicism is not better than Buddhism or Islam. If there was really ONE all powerful god that all people are supposed to worship, then why is it that all across the earth people have different views on what god or heaven really is. The truth is, nobody actually knows what the answers to life is, everyones just guessing on blind faith. I think that your actually an closet Agnostic (Someone who doesn't belong to any religion but still believes in a higher power). Don't be afraid of leaving the Catholic church. Take some time to actually read the bible, you'll be shocked by some of the disgusting things that are in there. Oh and about the wanting sex with another women's husband thing. Your just a horny teenager, this kind of stuff happens, don't worry about it.

ok your first question it depends on how you lok on it. You kind of are, and your kinda of not. You are becasue you want to, but you not becasue its not totally happening and its kinda hormonal at this age.

two: eveyone goes through this...trust me, my brother AND my mother both have. For most its a fase and you just have to think hard about it. Its a stage that im sure ill go throughe ven tho deep down i feel like denying it. You dnt have to ignore it, but you dnt have to be scared of it. there is not much you can do but still practice your faith and see if somehting comes to you[[usually a sign, seriously]]
