buying stars?

Okay well I saw someone ask about nameing a star they bought... what does that mean? how do you buy stars? thnx.

IM not sure where but you go somewhere and they will give you a certain star like tell you where it is [latatude and longitude] and then you can name it whatever you want. It cost a ton of money though.

you go to this one place and for a certain amount of money they give you a latitude and longiture of a certain star, and then its legally yours and you can name it.

There are registries that informally name stars. They send you a fancy diploma and mark the name on a list, but the IAU(the organization that actually does name stars) doesn't recognize these names.
