i just have no self confidence.

Question Posted Friday May 4 2007, 4:16 pm

hello everyone. well i'm pretty much wondering what to do to be pretty? i know this is a stupid question, but how do i FEEL pretty when i'm truly not at all. i have no self confidence and my self esteem is extremly low. it's been since i can remember. i pick out everything on my body and critize it. people tell me to shut up, and tell me i'm pretty but i just feel like they're just trying to be nice. i don't know how to take a compliment, and i just don't feel like i do anything right. i don't know it's just getting terrible. i feel like i'm 1000 pounds, and discusting.

-if anyone has any help, that'd be amazing.
thanks in advance. <33

Flaws are what make us all beautiful. You either have to learn to accept them or learn how to enhance them. For example, you aren't comfortable with your weight (along with millions of other teenage girls.) Instead of putting yourself down & criticizing everything about your body, wear stuff that compliments it. If you're like me & have issues with your waist/stomach, try different tops that make you look good. Experiment with different makeup & hairstyles. It helps a lot! I know that if I didn't wear any makeup or dye my hair the color I liked it, my self esteem would be in the negatives. There's nothing wrong with making minor changes about yourself. If it's reasonable & it raises your self confidence (& happiness) then go for it. I'm sure every girl out there can point out 20 things they hate about themself; no one is perfect. Just learn to focus on the things that you love about yourself instead of focusing on the things you wish you could change. As cliche as it sounds -- your appearance isn't what matters, it's your personality. :D

I feel the same way alot.

DO NOT give up.
thats the important thing, dont waste your life, their are so many people wanting to live right now, but cant , they have a disease or something and your young and have a whole life ahead of you.

alot of people get anoyed by me sometimes so i stopped always saying it aloud.
I just look at people bigger than me.
and if people ever make fun of you
just be like I know. Just so they know, they're not putting you down. They are just making their selves look retarted.
If theirs a group of people around , and someone wants to be funny , and trys to make a mean comment about you, say I know whatever, and other people will surley back you up, and say thats not true, or look at you to the person or something.
If you dont feel pretty, dont try to cover yourself in makeup, you will look stupid.
Just a little works, eyeliner, mascarra ( if needed) a little eye shadow maybe?

If it gets any worse, go to a theripist or doctor.
Tell them how you feel, and check out if you have a disorder of some sort.

I hope you get better
and i hope i helped
xoxo Melissaa.

Hey there! Do yourself a favor and get checked out by your doctor.

If you fit these symptoms, you may have a mental disorder called body dysmorphic disorder (BDD). It is a mental disorder that involves a disturbed body image. It is generally diagnosed in those who are extremely critical of their physique or self image, despite the fact there may be no noticeable disfigurement or defect.

-Compulsive mirror checking, glancing in reflective doors, windows and other reflective surfaces.
-Alternatively, an inability to look at ones own reflection or photographs of oneself; often the removal of mirrors from the home.
-Compulsive skin-touching, especially to measure or feel the perceived defect.
-Reassurance seeking from loved ones.
-Social withdrawal and co-morbid depression.
-Obsessive viewing of favorite celebrities or models the person suffering from BDD may wish to resemble.
-Excessive grooming behaviors: combing hair, plucking eyebrows, shaving, etc.
-Obsession with plastic surgery or multiple plastic surgeries with little satisfactory results for the patient.
-In obscure cases patients have performed plastic surgery on themselves, including liposuction and various implants with disastrous results.

Keep in mind that I am NOT suggesting that you have a mental disorder. I AM suggesting that you should at least rule out the possibility.

If you are sick and have been in the hospital, then you may have anorexia. Please get yourself the help you need- before it is too late.

Hi. I'm sorrie you hear that. This is how I look at it. If people compliment you on your look or tell you that you're pretty then you probably are. If you think you're ugly then maybe you are. I mean don't put yourself down. If someone put you down then that means they have low self esteem, that's why they're judging you. Its not hard to have confidence.
1. ST0P picking out your imperfections! [nobodys perfect!]. your inprefections are what perfect about you [if you get it].
2. D0N'T take put downs seriously. if they say negative things about you.. well then say they must hate themselves that's why they reflect it out on you.
3. if you feel fat.. well look at other fatt people! then see if you're really that fat?
4. last but not least TRY T0 LEARN H0W T0 L0VE Y0URSELF!!. =D.
instead of criticizin yourself.. hold back the critics. ! and look at what good about yourself. if someone say you're hott. your reply is I know! its not being conceited.. its confidence. just when you think about puttin down yourself.. try hold back and say something nice. that's the attitude & emotions part.
now the physical & fashion part. to be able to feel pretty and have confidence in yourself you must look pretty to have confidence. So you can have a good sense of style. do your hair. .. dress up. it doesn't have to be formal and dressy. but be cute and dress nice. do your hair. be accessorize.
umm.. wear a little of make up, N0T too much though. natural is always better. Be Yourself!.
Lastly, your health is very important. don't let stress and other things get to you. When you're tired and stress.. RELAX! listen to music, sleep, read, exercise, or do something that will keep your mind away from what stressing you. when you're thinking about things that would make you depressed.. talk to someone. let it all out! it will make you feel better. Be medicated if that helps. eat healthy food too and balance your meal out. I think that helps.
hope I helped! =]. this is my aim sn: shietitzvy. if you need more advice or someone to talk to.
