Computer Vs Laptop.

Question Posted Wednesday May 2 2007, 4:25 am

I would never ever buy a computer over a laptop.
What is your personal opinion?

I think it is better to wait a couple of months more so you can gather a little bit extra money to buy a laptop especially since they are as well upgradeable.

Wich are the most reliable portable computers?

I have both, although I just got my laptop this Christmas.

What I did, and what I think is the right course of action, is to have a really good desktop. Then you can get a really inexpensive laptop during a sale (I got mine during the Boxing Day sales) and you'll have both.

Pros and cons of desktop:
- Better ergonomics (using a laptop too frequently can lead to back pain, eye strain and carpal tunnel syndrome)
- More easily upgradeable. You can do it yourself rather than having to hire someone to do it.
- More memory
- Can't take it with you.
- Bigger.

Pros and cons of laptop:
- Can dock it with a monitor and keyboard.
- You can take it with you.
- Not easily upgradeable.
- More expensive.

Whatever computer you're getting, don't get a Dell. Everyone I know who has a Dell has had serious trouble with it. Plus, you can get a better computer for less money, if you time your purchase right.

I have a Gateway desktop and laptop, and I love them both.

it all depends. laptops don't have as much memory but they are handy.

i would also get a laptop. i saved up some money and just recently bought one.. plus you can get internet service by using other peoples wireless connect which makes it extra speedy fast...

most reliable portable computers i would have to say dell.. that's what my laptop is.. my regular computer is HP and they aren't as good... SONIC is also good

you have to be more careful with laptops though but that's my vote

If you are looking for performance (for playing games) or size of the hard drive (for storing a bunch of music or videos) do not get a laptop. Laptops are really more for school, and they are very convenient to drag around everywhere you go so you can do your work, or surf online at a friends house, or whatever. But the performance can be pretty bad with them (even with top models). The size is also annoying when you want to have a big playlist on them. If you are into music, you'd have to buy some decent speakers for it too cuz laptop sound sucks. It's basically personal preference and what you will be using it for, but I would go with a desktop. They're cheaper anyway.

Hi.

Personally, I think desktops are better than laptops. However laptops, are more convient. But I have both a desktop and computer, so I can't really complain about either. Even though I live on the laptop.

Just keep in mind, desktops are just as upgradeable as laptops.

I think the most reliable laptops, are MacBooks. I have an MacBook Pro, as well as my twin sister. They cost a little more, but it is worth it.
