How Old Do I Have To Be...

Question Posted Monday April 30 2007, 1:39 am

Hey, I want to get a job at this service station down the road from me, but i'm not sure if I can get a job there because i'm only 16 and my friend said you have to be 18 to work there because you're selling cigarettes, and that's what I thought as well, but then another of my friends said you can still work there...? I live in NSW btw...

Sorry, I'm not really sure.

I think it is probably legal for you to work there because I knew of other people who have worked at supermarket checkouts (which of course, sell cigarettes as well as alcoholic drinks) when they were under 18.

If you know that the service station is looking to hire new people, just ask them about what kind of person they're looking to hire. There's no harm in asking, right?
