im going to start doing an audio podcast but im not really sure what i need yet, im getting a cheap microphone of course. but i want to play music on the podcast do i need a switchboard? or whatever? and cant i just download a switchboard online? also, i listen to an audio podcast and she has audio comments, how do i get a number for people to call in? and is there anything else i need to know? i really really need help!

With DJing you either needed SAM (Which requires a license but you can get a trial) or Winamp. I had winamp which you can download from www.winamp.com but you also need shoutcast www.shoutcast.com
Now this is where it may become tricky, and different. With DJing, I was DJing on a site so I needed to connect to that site. I got given the port and address. Now with podcasting I don't think you'd use them...so uh...that's as much information I can give. Sorry.
Also sometimes when people call in, you can either give out your real number (Not very safe in my opinion) or you can use a program called Skype. Skype is like a real phone, except it's on the internet and you call in people from their username. But you can buy skype out credit, or credit for people from real phones to call your skype.
